Well, it is done. i have divested myself of the vast majority of my business interests in Second Life.

The Shaka Mall is sold - to Panther Kitty, who wishes to keep it going. Yay! Got to deal with transferring those objects soon.

The Isere land is sold, all apart from a couple of small bits. This went to AnsheCorp, sadly - I can't see her keeping the condos around. Sorry, tenants, but I had to sell.

Orwood has a person interested in buying. They want to keep the condos. Yay!

Which leaves me with the peaceful Derwent RV park and scenic Cottonwood with the five rented condos and my own house. Yay!

And a nice bunch of money. :)

Ah, the retired life!!!!

Why'd you get out of business?
Just curious? I've never been the SL business type to begin with...

Took too much time and energy to stay in business. Rent collection (or alternatively, writing scripts for automated rent collection), checking on delinquents, tidying up litter (or alternatively, keeping group memberships in line with rent payments) - all for a pittance of dwell and seeing others who have more energy than me leapfrog ahead with developments like SLExchange.com (why finish up my "list your items in my web site database" script when there's a "list your items and sell them in-world through the web" site out there?) Yes, I know I could hire scripters, event planners etc. But for me the joy of SL is "I can do this myself!" not in paying others to do things for me. I have l33T PHP skills. I could really do well with LSL if I applied myself. I don't want to spend money paying others to do what I just don't feel like spending time doing myself. Let them do it when it's their business! To be really successful, I had to hold regular events on all my locations, spend time promoting the opportunities, write those in-world and web scripts (!) and it was becoming too much like running a RL web business which is a "been there, done that" thing for me. So, just as in RL people go through a lifetime of labor and then retire to enjoy their leisure, I did the same in SL. The timescales are greatly exagerated, though. I'm sure my Avie is well uinder 50! :) Besides, I have building to do in SL for UC Davis, and that pays a far more realistic hourly wage....
